RHPS Celebrates First Year Anniversary

On November 15th, 2022 the Rutherford Historic Preservation Society was officially established. On that date, the Society was granted status as an independent, nonprofit, tax-exempt, 501(c)(3) corporation. Since then we have assumed the responsibilities of the previous town-sponsored preservation organization. The Society has maintained the Historic Site Inventory (HSI), awarded certificates of appreciation, participated in Borough parades and events, and encouraged preservation wherever possible, and these are just a few of the accomplishments this past year. We have created a unique, interactive website that is educational and entertaining, providing information for both the avid and novice historians alike. All of our funding now comes from memberships, sponsorships, promotions,and donations, which thankfully continue to grow, and our newly created “General Store”, offering one of a kind antiques for sale. Our dedicated, volunteer staff is committed to continue the work of preserving the rich history of Rutherford and look forward to another rewarding year.
