The Rutherford Historic Preservation Society is an independent non-profit organization that identifies and promotes the preservation of historic properties that exhibit well maintained classic architecture or that possess a heritage of a notable architect, builder or resident.

The Society also recognizes individuals and families for their distinguished historic contributions to the borough and/ or country.

The Society encourages historic preservation by providing educational and restoration information to homeowners and organizations, emphasizing the value of preserving Rutherford’s rich history.

Our mission focuses on maintaining the character of significant architecture throughout Rutherford and maintaining the integrity of historically important neighborhoods and districts.

The Society will strive to identify important buildings and homes and will continue the practice of honoring owners who are good property stewards and respectful of these important structures. Also, to promote preservation of religious buildings and church architectures.

The Rutherford Historic Preservation Society is open to membership for all Rutherford residents, but especially those with an interest in preserving the community’s historic assets.
