He was a pioneer South Bergen physician and Rutherford resident for over 40 years. Graduating from Hamilton College, NY, in 1862, he arrived in Rutherford in the early 1870s, living at 168 Chestnut Street, now “The Rutherford Schoolhouse” Day Care. He served many settlers across South Bergen and actively contributed to Rutherford’s development. He once ran as Rutherford’s Republican mayoral candidate but lost in a three-way race.
